Holiday Travel: Packing Tips to Make Your Trip a Breeze

'Tis the season to be jolly…and to travel! If you're one of the many people who will be taking to the skies or hitting the roads this holiday season, then you know that packing can be a bit of a challenge.

In addition to packing your clothes and toiletries, you also have to think about gifts, food, and how to get through security without any issues. Don't worry; we've got you covered with our vacation packing tips.

Read on for everything you need to know about packing for holiday travel:

Vacation Packing Tips: Clothing Edition

Let's start with the basics – clothes. When you're packing your clothes, there are a few things you'll want to keep in mind:

  • Only pack what you need. You don't need to bring everything you own on vacation.

  • ·Think about the climate of your destination. If you're going someplace warm, pack light and airy clothing. If you're going somewhere cold, pack some cozy sweaters and jackets.

  • Roll your clothes instead of folding them. This will save space in your suitcase and prevent wrinkles.

  • Always bring an extra set of clothes in your carry-on, just in case your luggage gets lost.

Vacation Packing Tips: The Toiletries Edition

When it comes to toiletries, again, only pack what you need. There's no need to bring an entire bottle of shampoo or conditioner if you're only going on a short trip. Also, make sure all of your liquids are TSA-compliant. This means they have to be 3 ounces or less and stored in a clear quart-sized bag. And don't forget your medications! If you take prescription drugs, make sure to bring enough for the duration of your trip, plus a few extras, just in case.

Vacation Packing Tips: TSA Line

No one likes waiting in line at security, but you can help to speed up the process. First, sign up for TSA Precheck or Clear so that you can use the expedited security lines. If you're not eligible for either program, arrive at the airport early, so you don't have to worry about missing your flight due to a long security line. When packing your carry-on bag, make sure to put all liquids and electronics in easy-to-access places to remove them when going through security quickly. And finally, dress comfortably so that taking off shoes and outerwear is quick and easy.

Vacation Packing Tips: The Gifts Edition

If you're traveling with gifts, there are a few things to remember to ensure they arrive at their destination safely. First, if possible, try to ship them ahead of time, so you don't have to worry about carrying them with you. If that's not an option, then make sure they're well-packed and marked as gifts. It's also a good idea to put a card with your contact information inside the box in case it gets lost.

Request a fragile sticker for your checked bags to ensure your gifts are handled with care. Finally, plan to wrap your gifts when you arrive at your destination. If you get selected for a bag search, the TSA agents will have to unwrap your gifts, and you'll end up doing double work.

Vacation Packing Tips: The Food Edition

If you're traveling with food, there are some things to keep in mind to make it through security without any issues.

Just like toiletries, make sure all liquids and gels are in TSA-compliant containers. This means they must be 3 ounces or less and stored in a clear quart-sized bag.

Also, remember that solid foods are allowed through security, so feel free to pack your holiday masterpieces. Just make sure they're not packed too tightly so that the TSA agents can easily inspect them.

It's true; there are extra steps to take if you're planning to travel this holiday season. But with a bit of planning, your trip will be stress-free and.....JOLLY.

So, pack your bags and enjoy your holiday vacation!
